How to Add Text to a PDF
A text overlay can add a note, label, or short clarification to one page. The separate overlay workflow does not edit existing text or reflow the surrounding document.
When this is useful
Use it for a concise addition where the position is known. This is a good fit for simple note placement or an overlay that does not need a page-by-page editor.
Steps
Open Add Text to PDF and upload a readable, unencrypted PDF.
Enter the text, choose a page number, and set the size and color.
Adjust the horizontal and vertical point positions so the line fits within the page.
Download the output and inspect the selected page at normal size, checking for clipping or overlap.
Important considerations
- Coordinates are measured in PDF points from the page origin used by the tool; long text may not fit in the available line width.
- Text added on top of an existing image or paragraph can overlap it. Keep the source and verify the overlay visually.
If something goes wrong
If the text is outside the visible area, move its coordinates inward and retry from the original. Reduce the text size or shorten the line if it is clipped.
