Getting started with PixelPDF
Choose a tool
Pick the tool that matches your task, then read its accepted formats, limits, and instructions.
Select a supported file
Use the labelled file picker to select the document or images. Multi-file tools explain how file order is handled.
Set the available options
Choose only the controls offered by that tool, such as page ranges, rotation, output quality, or a password.
Process the document
Start the operation and follow the status or error message shown by the page.
Download and review
Save the result, open it, and compare important pages and content with the original before sharing or relying on it.

Image to PDF
Image to PDF places each supported image on its own PDF page. It is useful when photos, screenshots, or scans need to be shared or stored together as one document.
JPG to PDF
JPG is common for camera photos and scanned pictures. Putting JPG files into a PDF is helpful when recipients need to view a photo set as one document, print it consistently, or keep a collection together with related paperwork.
PNG to PDF
PNG is often used for screenshots, interface captures, line art, and graphics with transparency. A PDF can make these images easier to distribute alongside other document pages, although transparent areas may be flattened against a page background.
PDF to JPG
PDF-to-JPG conversion renders page contents as raster images. It is useful for sharing a page as a picture or adding it to an image-only workflow, but text in the exported JPG is no longer directly editable as document text.
PDF to Word
PDF-to-Word conversion attempts to reconstruct editable document elements from a fixed-page layout. Text-based PDFs generally provide better source content than scans, while columns, tables, fonts, and positioned graphics can make layout reconstruction less exact.
Word to PDF
Word documents reflow according to fonts, margins, and software settings. Exporting a final copy as PDF helps keep page breaks, headings, and visual placement more consistent for recipients. It is still worth checking the final pages for substituted fonts, widows, or unexpected page breaks.
Merge PDF
Merging joins pages from separate PDFs into one sequence; it does not automatically reconcile different page sizes, bookmarks, form fields, or security settings. Arrange documents in a deliberate order and keep originals so you can recover individual files or revise the packet later.
Split PDF
Splitting creates separate page groups from a source document. It is useful for distributing a chapter, separating an appendix, or reducing a large packet into sections. Use the page index shown by the viewer and check whether covers or unnumbered pages shift the range from printed numbering.
Compress PDF
PDF size comes from page images, fonts, embedded files, and document structure. Compression may resample or recompress images and remove redundant data. Choose a balance suited to the file: a presentation for screen viewing may tolerate more compression than a detailed scan intended for printing or close inspection.
Rotate PDF
PDF rotation can be stored as page display orientation rather than rewriting every mark on a page. Scanned documents often contain pages captured at different angles, so inspect each page and apply changes only where needed. The saved document should be reopened in another viewer to confirm orientation is retained.
Protect PDF
PDF security features can include encryption and, depending on the format and reader, permissions that affect actions such as printing or editing. The strength and behavior depend on implementation and compatible software. A password does not prevent an authorized recipient from sharing a copy after opening it, so use appropriate access practices for the sensitivity of the document.
Unlock PDF
PDF restrictions and password prompts are not always the same. A document may require a password to open, or a reader may limit certain actions through permissions. What can be changed depends on the protection applied and the authorization available. This tool is intended for legitimate document access, not bypassing unknown credentials or protections.
Frequently asked questions
What is PixelPDF?
PixelPDF provides online tools for converting, organizing, and managing PDF documents. Each tool page describes its supported files, steps, and limitations. Browse the PDF tool directory to choose a task.
How do I convert an image to PDF?
Open Image to PDF, select supported images, arrange them in the order you'd like, and start the conversion. Check the resulting pages and image quality after downloading. The image tool accepts up to 20 images, subject to its file and image limits.
How can I merge multiple PDF files?
Use Merge PDF to select two or more PDFs, arrange their order, and create one output file. Check the combined page limit and inspect the downloaded document.
How do I split a PDF into separate pages?
Open Split PDF and select the pages or page ranges to extract. Page numbers refer to the PDF's page order. Review the new document to make sure it contains the intended pages.
How can I reduce a PDF file size?
Try Compress PDF. It rewrites PDF structure but does not downsample or re-encode embedded images, so image-heavy or already compact files may not become smaller. Check the resulting file size and content.
Which file formats does PixelPDF support?
Formats vary by tool and include PDF, supported image formats, DOCX, XLSX, PPTX, and local HTML input for the HTML converter. Check the supported formats page and the selected tool's instructions before uploading.
Why is my file not processing?
The file may be damaged, password-protected, over a displayed limit, or in a format the selected tool does not accept. Confirm that the file opens locally, choose the matching tool, and review the PDF troubleshooting steps.
What should I do if a download fails?
Check your browser's download list and available device storage, then retry if the transfer did not complete. If processing must be repeated, keep the original file and verify the new download before relying on it.
Can I use PixelPDF on a mobile phone?
The website uses a responsive layout and your browser's file picker. File selection and saving behavior depend on your device and browser, so check that the upload completes and open the downloaded file to verify it.
How do I unlock or protect a PDF?
For a document you are authorized to modify, Unlock PDF requires the correct password. To create a password-protected copy, use Protect PDF and follow its password requirements. Unknown passwords are not guessed or recovered.
Why does a converted document look different from the original?
Some conversions reflow text or reconstruct document structure rather than preserving the original page design. For example, PDF to Word extracts selectable text into editable paragraphs, and table extraction is heuristic. Review important outputs against the source.
How can I report a technical problem?
Read the Contact page for the channel available on this deployment. A public email or message form may not be configured. The troubleshooting page is available in the meantime; do not share passwords or confidential documents in a report.
PDF troubleshooting
Unsupported file format
Choose a tool that accepts the file's actual format. Renaming a file extension does not convert its contents; use the supported-formats page to check accepted inputs.
Damaged or password-protected PDF
Open the file in a PDF reader to check that it is complete. If it needs a password, use only a password you are authorized to provide; a fresh export may help with damaged files.
Upload or processing failure
Check the tool's upload and page limits, ensure the browser has finished reading the selected file, and retry with a fresh copy. For large image or PDF jobs, reduce dimensions or process fewer pages where practical.
Download problem
Check browser downloads and device storage. If the output transfer was interrupted, run the operation again and open the new file to verify it.
Unexpected conversion result
Compare the output with the original, paying attention to page order, fonts, tables, image quality, and layout. Some conversions do not preserve the original page design.
Browser compatibility
Use an up-to-date browser, allow the file picker and downloads, and try selecting the file again. If the issue persists, consult the tool's error message and the detailed troubleshooting guide.
Privacy and security
Processing tools send selected files and options to the server to perform the requested operation. The application uses temporary job directories and attempts cleanup, but this is not a guarantee about hosting, backups, or infrastructure retention. Upload only files you are authorized to process, and avoid entering confidential information unless you accept the applicable risks.
Contact and further help
The Contact page shows a public email channel only when one is configured for the current deployment; no response time is promised. If no channel is available, use the guides, troubleshooting steps, FAQ, and tool-specific instructions on this site.
